Remote Desktop virtual audio driver for SfB testing

As a consultant I find it handy to have a SfB client running on customer management servers. It gives me a quick and easy way to validate most things excluding audio. The only issue is, that even though I don’t have an expectation that I will be able to properly test audio, some functions wont work without the appearance of audio devices, for example starting a meeting.

To get around this problem I use the VB Audio’s VB-CABLE Virtual Audio Device. Install this bad boy and SfB will think it has a valid speaker and microphone – now I can start and meeting or a call! Also if your management server (or other client/server) is running Windows Server, make sure you set the “Windows Audio” service to start automatically.

Happy testing and please consider a donation as this software is provided free as “donation-ware”.
