In this video review I look at the Poly Studio x30 and how you configure it for use with Microsoft Teams. The Poly Studio x30 is an all-in-one meeting room solution that supports Microsoft Teams, fitting into the ‘Collaboration Bar’ category of devices. Poly also have a larger x50 Collaboration Bar for bigger rooms.
A key thing I forgot to mention in the video when running the Poly Studio x30 or x50 in Microsoft Teams mode, is that the supported resolution is only 720p – This is a Microsoft software limitation which will be resolved in a later update. The camera hardware is able to support up to 4k, so you are future proofed there. Here is the current road map for this year:

Dear Andrew,
Thanks for your extensive review on this product. I’m very interested in buying this device for my home office. Can you let me know where I can find if the Personal Mode functionality in the roadmap you are showing has been delivery. For me this is essential for functionality for buying the device.
Many thanks for answering my question.
Kind regards,
Peter
Thanks for reading 🙂 It looks like the date has slipped, check it out here – https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=66358
Thanks for this review, it was very helpful in understanding the set up.
May I ask, why does one need the TC8 if the XC30 can be controlled by a computer?
Thanks for reading! Personally, I like it for ease of use in particular 1-touch join. It makes it much more useable when you don’t have a laptop with you.
